So I watched Toc Toc, when I was getting bored with the usual police-suspense-drama series for a while. To refresh my mind, by looking some comedy movie—without romance.
I hate romantic comedy genre movies. To be honest.
So while searching through the movies on Netflix, I found Toc Toc. Thought it would be English-language movie but turns out it was a Spanish movie.
I have fond to movies since I was a kid. My mother used to brought a Laser-Disc or VHR Disney Movies whenever she came home. It was the first time I saw the movie other than my Mother-Tongue—I loved James and the Giant Peach.

Without subtitles.
I didn’t understand the storyline but the videography and the characters, the colors, really feast one’s eyes on. I enjoyed the entire movie and imagined if there is a huge giant peach I appears, I would love to come inside them and go travel the world.
Since the Netflix era, I started to explore any kinds of movie without going out to buy some CDs haha. Because I’m avoiding the romantic-comedy or romance genre movies, mostly I’m watching horror, suspense, phycological thriller, detective/police series drama, or comedy—WITHOUT romance (ugh still haha). Not into gruesome or gore genre (e.g. Saw, Human Centipede, or whatever you name it)
So back again to Toc Toc, it is a story about a bunch of people suffering with ‘various’ OCD.
It is more interesting if you watch the movie and finding out what kind of OCDs they are in. It is pretty amusing to see how the actors nailed the character so perfectly. For me, it is absolutely hard to be someone that you probably never be in their position.
As a person with the same circumstances (but not OCD, will tell you about it later), I do understand how suffering are the characters to do their daily activity with such extraordinary situation.
The common OCD—excessive hand washing—is actually real and I could see it is very painful (the fear). One of my friend used to be like that and coincidentally, she works in a lab (so I found this has the similarity with one of the character in the movie!). So you know, working in the lab require a very sterile environments and I thought it is common for people with such OCD (cmiiw).

Toc Toc introduces us to the mental issues, what is that, how it happened and how to ‘recover’ from it.
The movie will brings you to their life, how they feel, the struggle and frustration, covered with a comedy.
But also–probably we can get a little bit bored because the movie took place at the same room (almost half in the whole time), with the same people–not many interactions to the outer world–which is I think it’s the downside of this movie. Some clips about the character’s life are shown in some scenes, but I guess, you have to stick with them until the end of the movie.
Not to mention: a very good plot twist (ooooooo I love movies with plot twists!)
It is also recommended for you to find out about OCD of each characters as the act of awareness about mental issues.
I recommend Toc Toc and don’t forget to switch the subtitles ON!
